Scholarship Fundraiser

Alleviating the financial burden for the next generation

In 1977, the annual Scholarship Fundraiser was created to raise money for the chapter’s scholarship fund.  Since inception, the cost of tuition for one year rose from $1,800 to now exceeding $25,000. Spelman is proud of its 76 percent graduation rate; however, many young women are unable to reach their post-secondary educational dreams due to lack of finances.

Each year the chapter hosts a power-packed event, with more than 400 in attendance, that is designed to inspire and empower.  During this event, the chapter not only awards scholarships, but honors alumnae who have made significant contributions to our community and world.

This year's event:  We Made the Choice

Join us virtually, Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. ET, as we honor three distinguished game changers. If that’s not enough, we will tackle racial justice, share powerful alumnae stories of why they made the choice, highlight our sponsors, and have a few surprise guests.

This event allows us to contribute toward our goal of raising $50,0000 to cover up to 50% of the tuition amount for a sophomore scholar and up to 100% tuition for a graduating senior this fiscal year.
